Edwin P. Gordon assumed the role of Head of School on July 1, 2019. Prior to joining the Congressional community, he was Head of School at Palm Beach Day Academy, Palm Beach, Florida; Lower School Head at Riverdale Country School New York City; Academic Dean at Center for Talented Youth, Johns Hopkins University; and Executive Director for Mid-Career Doctorate Program (K-12) in the Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania. Edwin has also served as a second and fourth grade teacher and English department chair.
Edwin was born in Atlanta, GA, and earned a B.A. and M. A. in English from Baylor University, Waco, Texas; and a Ph. D. in Educational Administration from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. Edwin is a member of Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington (AISGW) Board of Directors, New York Philharmonic Education Think Tank, and Emerging Scholars Board of Trustees.
Outside of school, Edwin enjoys running, reading, long walks with his wife, spending time with his two grown children and a grandson, and listening to opera and jazz.
