EXPLORERS WANTED

Congressional provides an educational frontier experience that encourages inquisitive young minds to ask questions, and, with just the right instruction and guidance, discover not only the answers but also their potential.

The Outdoor Classroom

The Congressional campus is filled with activity well beyond the school day, and the 40-acre campus, abundant with natural resources, is the perfect backdrop for daily learning and play. The school understands the importance of student experiences outdoors in nature, and teachers prioritize their time outside as well as in.

Within Congressional's caring community, students find many ways to get involved and make lifelong friends. Students love their school and think of it as a second home. It is a place for learning and growing, recreation and sports, nurturing friendships, and gaining positive experiences that will stay with them for life.

Colts Care

Seeing our students interact with our horses is so special, and it is important that we integrate the horses into the curriculum in ways that we can. Colts Care, a social-emotional learning program, is an excellent opportunity for small groups of our middle school students to connect with our horses on campus.  Coordinated by our school counselor and our equine director, students learn to care for and interact with our horses.

Outdoor Learning

Fourth graders learned about Karletta Chief, an Indigenous Hydrologist and professor at the University of Arizona. Known for her efforts to address environmental pollution in the Navajo Nation, she has worked to increase the participation of Native Americans in STEM. After learning about Karletta, the students went out to the creek on campus to make observations and sketch a map.

Learning About Solar Energy

Our first graders were "buzzing" with excitement over the solar-powered bugs they made in STEM class.

Students started by decorating their bugs with paper and connecting them to solar cells and a motor with conductive tape. Once they were finished, the class ventured outside to watch their bugs move and vibrate in the sunlight. What a fun way to explore solar energy.
