We look forward to welcoming newly enrolled families to this event, which is designed to answer your questions as you prepare to join Congressional School. Staff members from various departments will be stationed at tables between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM to get to know you and answer any questions you may have.

NEW FAMILY TO-DO LIST

Once you are fully enrolled, there are a few items that need to be checked off your list in order to be ready for the first day of school.

 

SHOW YOUR CHILD'S PROOF OF ID (BIRTH CERTIFICATE OR PASSPORT)  
Bring the original document with you to the Orientation or contact Ellen Broetzmann, Registrar, to arrange a time to show the proof of ID.

 

WORLD LANGUAGE PREFERENCE (KINDERGARTEN-GRADE 8)
Indicate your child's preferred language: French (K-8) Spanish (K-8) or Latin (7/8).
Log in to Colts Corner to choose your preference.
Note: language placement is subject to space availability. 

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH PLACEMENT TEST (GRADES 5-8)
Middle School students are placed in math groups based on their math placement tests, ISEE/ SSAT test results, transcripts, and the other information provided during the admission process. This internal math placement test will be proctored by our teachers. The test time will vary for each student but generally will take between 45-60 minutes. No preparation or materials are needed. Parents are encouraged to stay on campus while students are taking the placement tests in classrooms.

Students in rising grades 5-8 should schedule their math placement tests using this link
June 2 – arrive at 2:45, and the test will start at 3:00 PM
June 4 – arrive at 8:30, and the test will start at 8:45 AM.

 

HEALTH FORMS NEEDED BY MID-AUGUST 
VA School Health Entrance Form (Infants-Grade 8) - Due by 8/15/25
Athletic Participation Form (Grades 5-8 only) - Due by 8/15/25
Additional health information is required by 8/15/25 via the Magnus Health portal
(Access to Magnus Health will be available in the summer).

 

SUMMER READING & CLASS PLACEMENTS
Information about summer reading and assignments will be shared in early June.
Class placements are announced in mid-August.
