COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Foundations for Algebra I course is designed for students entering pre-algebra in the fall. This course provides practice for early concepts and a review of mathematical skills and strategies to explore the intuitive understanding of numbers. Students will develop an early understanding of key concepts leading to theories of linear relationships and probability.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Review of key concepts including ratios, proportions, percents, conceptual understanding of fractions, operations fluency, critical thinking, and problem solving.
  • Understand real numbers consists of rational and irrational numbers
  • Develop an understanding of rational numbers by including negative rational numbers.
  • Develop an understanding of operations with rational numbers and their properties.
